Be Kind To Yourself!
January is midwinter. A time when we may all feel low. Short days, long dark nights. A lot of people are suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder. It is also a time for looking forward and some people may find this more difficult than others. We are pushed to make New Years Resolutions and keep then? Why? This is probably the worst time of the year to promise to lose weight and start new exercise regimes. If you need to lose weight just do a bit of healthy eating rather than try to stick to a prescribed diet. Cutting a few unhealthy foods from your diet will help. You don't need to push yourself to join a gym right now. Start with using stairs and going for short walks. The walks can be extended as you feel better.
Gyms are fine, I have been a member of various gyms over the years so I know the will power it takes to keep going. You feel guilty if you don't go because you are paying a large monthly fee. At this time of the year you are probably better going for walks. It gets you out into the fresh air and this gives you a feel good factor rather than being in an air conditioned gym.
Read a book, wrap up warm and go for a walk, try to eat as healthily as possible but don't punish yourself if you are not keeping those resolutions made on the spur of the moment. Forgive yourself, don't be your own worse critic.
Make time for yourself.
